Informatica & Alteryx → Talend

Our converter parses your existing estate, generates Talend Studio jobs, and tells you precisely which mappings it could not handle and why.

Overview

Migration Cost Is a Wall, Not a Slope

Everyone modelling an Informatica exit reaches the same place. The target platform is not the hard part; Talend is a known quantity. The hard part is that a large estate contains hundreds of mappings that all look slightly different, most of the original authors have left, and the documentation describes an intent that the code stopped matching long ago.

Hand-rewriting means re-deriving business logic from transformation chains, one mapping at a time, and every one carries the risk that a subtle expression difference shows up as a wrong number in a quarter-end report months later. That risk, more than the effort, is what keeps renewals getting signed.

Parse

Informatica XML exports and Alteryx .yxmd workflows are read as data.

Map

An intermediate representation of sources, targets, transformations and expressions.

Generate

Talend Studio jobs emitted using the equivalent component set.

Report

A per-mapping coverage report: fully converted, converted with review notes, or manual.

How it works
What the converter does

Parse, Map, Generate, Report

01

Informatica and Alteryx In

Informatica XML exports of mappings, sessions and workflows, plus parameter files, or Alteryx .yxmd files. No access to your Informatica environment is required for the scan.

02

Talend Studio Jobs Out

Generated jobs use the equivalent Talend component set, with workflows orchestrated as parent jobs and parameters carried into Talend contexts.

03

Tested Expression Translation

Expressions are translated against a tested function map, and anything ambiguous is flagged instead of guessed.

04

Per-Mapping Coverage Report

Before you commit, every mapping is classed as fully converted, converted with review notes, or manual, with each manual item given a reason and an effort band.

05

60–80% Automated Conversion

The band seen across engagements to date. It moves with estate style, which is why the pilot gives you your own number on your own mappings.

06

You Own the Converted Code

The generated Talend jobs are yours outright, in your repository, from the first commit.

How the engagement runs

From Inventory to Decommission

01

Inventory and Complexity Scan

We ingest your exports and produce the estate picture: mapping count, transformation mix, reuse patterns, dead objects and complexity distribution.

02

Pilot Conversion

A representative set is converted and run side by side against production output. This is where the coverage percentage becomes your number.

03

Bulk Conversion in Waves

Converted by subject area so testing can be grouped and signed off by the business owners of those tables. Generated jobs land in Git from the start.

04

Reconciliation Testing

Automated parity checks: row counts, column-level checksums, aggregate control totals and a null/distinct profile comparison, old versus new.

05

Manual Remediation

The residual set, worked by engineers with the coverage report as the backlog, estimated up front and tracked visibly.

06

Cutover and Decommission

Parallel run for an agreed number of cycles, then schedule handover, then the licence conversation you were trying to have in the first place.
